English-language talk radio station with music, news and sport. 5 years ago, we identified a need for a radio station that provided the English speaking communities on the Costas of southern Spain with a range of first class talk programmes, and a judicious mix of music, all matching the eclectic and sophisticated tastes of our listeners. Radio Europe Mediterraneo was born from the vision of its founding broadcaster, Maurice Boland and around him Maurice built a team of the highest quality, to present a wide variety of programs and interview a huge range of interesting guests from around the world. The station has been featured on numerous British factual TV shows and maintains a long-standing association with the British and Foreign press working closely with the BBC, ITV, SKY and RTE (Ireland).

About 4 years ago, Richard Younger, with a mike in his hand, was hosting a quiz at his then bar Bar Tranquillo when a guy walked up to him and said, With your talent you should be on the radio. The seed was planted, and 3 months later the bar was sold and Pirate Fm was born. Once the novelty of the name of Pirate (and of course the fun of the name) had worn off, they realised for a serious venture they needed to change the brand name, and became Smile Fm. Smile fm – always a better song, your local radio station with brilliant music, competitions, news and local information.
