Benidorm Beaches

Booking.com

A five-kilometre coastline marked by vast sands and secluded coves where one can enjoy a refreshing swim, as well as engage in water sports, like scuba diving, water skiing, windsurfing and sailing, etc.

Poniente Playa. Poniente Beach. Benidorm
Promenade with lots of palm trees that make the environment truly beautiful. Great sand. The rocks beside the port are the best place for fishing. The Poniente Playa resort begins at the harbour in the Old Town and stretches over 2kms toward La Cala Finestrat. The concentration of hotels and apartments are far less here and the beach offers a less crowded space even
in high season. If you are looking for a beach holiday away from the “Brits abroad”, with early nights and early mornings then this is the place to stay, especially for those who enjoy exercise. Has recently had extensive work on a new promenade.

If you do not want quite such a hectic time having fun in the sun this will be your better option as PONIENTE tends to be slightly less crowded. There is still plenty of facilities close at hand and the
inevitable (yet necessary) army of sunbeds, but in general there is a more relaxed and laid back feel here – and a bit more space. Families, young ones and the not-so-young- but-young-at-heart are very well catered for and have all they need to enjoy great swimming (there are no rocks) and sunbathing. Again, the sand is spotlessly clean each morning.

For a more lively holiday you should consider the Levante Playa area of Benidorm.

Levante Playa. Levante Beach Benidorm
Located to the north of the harbour, Levante beach is one of the most beautiful in the city. Because of its urban location, it provides easy access to many services and to two kilometres of fine, golden sands. These emblematic sands are bordered by a busy promenade, filled with terraces and restaurants that are very lively at night.
This is the tourist centre of Benidorm and is where you will find the largest concentration of hotels and self catering apartment accommodation favoured as the most popular Summer holiday destination.
You will find 60% of all bars, restaurants and entertainment venues here offering a huge range of services both independent and in hotels. Almost all businesses here cater for English speaking visitors and many British people own bars.

This is the sandy holiday hub for those who are out for fun and frolics, and is known as the sunrise beach. In high season it can get pretty crowded, although there are quite literally thousands of sun beds (over 5000 in case you are curious). It is backed by a broad promenade sporting bars and cafes and in short…it is lively!

The beach is sandy and slopes gently into the water which makes for relatively safe bathing for the young or less confident water baby. Further out to sea are swinging bridges, diving boards, rafts, slides, a wet playground for the energetic, and lifeguards are on hand throughout the summer season. Most impressively, the sand is pristine each morning thanks to a thorough daily clean up.

The Levante is made up of a very mixed age range and caters well for every type of holiday from stag and hen groups looking to dance all night to those wishing for a quieter relaxed beach break. It should be noted however that this side of town is where the late night venues tend to be located. It is very busy during July and August when the beaches can be top to toe with sun seekers and bars open well after 2am with a happy and buoyant crowd. If you are wishing to have early nights and relax on the beach straight after breakfast then you may wish to book a hotel or apartment in the Poniente.

In the winter months the area is favoured by many retired visitors looking for long stay hotels on the Levante.

Cala el Mal Pas Playa Beach Benidorm

Facilities include; Restrooms, showers, lifeguards, and provision for people with disabilities.
This cove separates both of Benidorms beaches (Poniente and Levante or West and East). It is a tranquil beach that enjoys views of the viewing point and the port.

There are many cinemas on the Costa Blanca, and many of them show English-language films with Spanish subtitles.

These films are listed as VO (versión original), VOS (versión original subtitulada) or lingua originale films.

So if you want to watch a film in English, look for “VO” or “VOS” beside the listing.

Some cinemas advertising VO films show the film in Spanish but transmit the original version language soundtrack via headphones. This is done by the use of headphones, you have to make a 20 euro refundable deposit for the hire of the headphones, and some people has reported that you leave a document like your driving license or Residencia as security.

Benidorm

Benidorm Tourist Information

Benidorm is one of Spains most popular tourist resorts. It lies on the Eastern (Mediterranean) Coast of Spain between Valencia and Alicante, in the province of Valencia, in a region known as the Costa Blanca.

Benidorm is only a two hour flight from most major European Capitals (London, Berlin, Frankfurt, Paris, Milan, Zurich). The nearest Airport is Alicante (El Altet) International Airport, linked by a motorway 60 km away. There are regular flights all year round.

Benidorm offers an incredible selection of entertainment and excitement for people of all ages. Four of the biggest Theme Parks in Europe, a Casino, a top-flight international variety show, many cabaret bars and discos, hotels with excellent live acts and some great water sports opportunities. Peaceful parks or exhilarating walks along the promenade and afternoon tea dancing. You really can find something for everyone.

The two major beaches, the Poniente and the Levante are beautiful, long stretches of soft, golden sand, and due to their Southerly orientation are kept naturally clean, consistently receiving the prestigious European Blue Flag awards for quality of services and water.

The weather is remarkably mild, with an average sea temperature in the Summer of 24ºC and air temperature of 26ºC. The Winter is cooler but still renowned for its mild and sunny climate. The Summer months are generally popular with younger tourists, Spring and Autumn with everyone and, whilst the Winter is more popular with older tourists, an increasing numbers of others are seeking short breaks here.

Benidorm

Benidorms beaches are justifiably famous and the resorts continuing success owes much to those fabulous golden crescents. Stretching for a luxuriant six kilometres from Levante Beach in the east to Poniente Beach in the west, consistently high quality blue flag bathing, lifeguard patrols, a wealth of water sports and an impressive approach to cleanliness mean these beaches are among the best in Europe.

Benidorm is split into four areas: The Old Town, Levante, Poniente, and Rincon de Loix.

The Old Town is an evocative maze of cobbled streets and inviting establishments to drink and shop in. Benidorm’s Old Quarter is situated on the promontory that separates the 2 main beaches. This originally was the old fishing village that developed into the tourist mecca that Benidorm has become. The old town has many quaint narrow lanes and alleyways, some unsuitable for tourist coaches. With its blue-domed church and white houses, it manages to retain its character amongst the forest of tower blocks to the east and west. The church of San Jaime looks down on all those seeking company or solace.

If you like a bit of bustle and hustle on your holiday then you’ll enjoy the energy of the Levante area of Benidorm. Beach, hotel and theme park pleasures by day and the highest concentration of entertainment and clubbing venues in Europe by night. Rated as one the best beaches in Europe. Long and safe, Playa Levante stretches for more than two kilometres of luxuriant sand butting up against the area known as Rincon de Loix.

The Rincon de Loix is the newer part of Benidorm which joins seamlessly to the Levant area. Favoured by many of the British it is a mixture of new 4* hotels and high class apartments to older more basic types of accommodation.

Walking West from Benidorm’s old Town, Poniente Beach begins to unfurl. Along the sweep of golden sand, a brand new promenade has appeared backed by a slow-moving one way traffic system. Cafes, bars and shops which have lain idle for years have re-opened and the whole area, taking in apartments and hotels spreading back from the promenade, has been re-vitalised.
