Cinema in Ondara

Ondara is now the location for the Commercial Centre Portal De La Marina – this is a huge shopping mall with many well-known retailers. There is also a cinema which sometimes shows films in English and bowling alley and food court.

The centre has plenty of shops and also a cinema which also shows films in their original language – i.e. mainly English. This is done by the use of headphones, you have to make a 20 euro refundable deposit for the hire of the headphones, and some people has reported that you leave a document like your driving license or Residencia as security.

Ondara is a village in the province of Alicante and autonomous community of Valencia, Spain. The municipality covers an area of 10.4 square kilometres (4.0 sq mi) and as of 2011 had a population of 6644 people.

Ondara is an agricultural small village with a population of about 6.000, in the Valencian Country (officially called “Comunitat Valenciana” ) in the East of Iberian Peninsula. It is 100 km from Alicante (Alacant) and Valencia (València) and 7 km from Dénia, the main town in the “comarca de la Marina Alta”, with a population of about 35.000

Dénia is an important tourist centre on the Mediterranean coast known as “Costa Blanca”.

To the south of Ondara are the towns of Denia, Pedreguer, La Jara, Els Poblets and El Verger. To the north of Ondara are Oliva and Gandia. Even further inland are the similar sized towns of Orba and Pego. Other towns near Ondara are Benidorm (the most famous tourist centre) and Gandia, where a part of the Papa Borja family, moved in the 15 century.

Access is good because Ondara is just off the A7 autoroute (motorway) and the N-322 road passes around the town.

Festivals and Fiestas in Ondara

A medieval market is held every November.

Ondara celebrates a number of festivals and fiestas and these include the Fiesta de San Antonio in January, the Fiestas del Santísimo Cristo (Celebrations of the Holy Christ) held in June, the Fiesta de San Jaime and the Fiestas Patronales held in July.
