While Correfoc is traditionally associated with Catalan culture, Valencia, with its rich tapestry of festivals and traditions, has its own unique interpretation of this fiery spectacle.
The name translates to “fire run,” and it’s aptly named as participants, known as ‘diables’ (devils) and ‘bèsties’ (beasts), dance amidst sparks and flames.
During Correfoc, streets come alive with the frenetic energy of drumbeats and the hypnotic dance of flames from firecrackers and sparklers. Dressed in devilish costumes adorned with horns and wielding pitchforks, performers captivate onlookers with their daring acrobatics and choreographed routines.
Spectators are drawn into the spectacle, often joining the procession, albeit cautiously, as they navigate through the labyrinth of fiery displays. The air crackles with excitement and the scent of gunpowder, creating an atmosphere charged with both fear and exhilaration.
Daimús, a quaint coastal town nestled in the heart of Valencia, offers its own enchanting rendition of the Correfoc, infusing this traditional Catalan spectacle with its own local flair. Despite its smaller scale compared to larger cities, Daimús’s Correfoc radiates with the same infectious energy and vibrant spirit.
Here, amidst the charming Mediterranean backdrop, locals clad in devilish attire dance to the rhythmic beats of drums, their movements illuminated by the flickering glow of fireworks and sparklers.

Si bien Correfoc se asocia tradicionalmente con la cultura catalana, Valencia, con su rico tapiz de festivales y tradiciones, tiene su propia interpretación única de este ardiente espectáculo.
El nombre se traduce como “carrera de fuego” y es un nombre acertado porque los participantes, conocidos como ‘diables’ (diablos) y ‘bèsties’ (bestias), bailan en medio de chispas y llamas.
Durante el Correfoc, las calles cobran vida con la energía frenética de los tambores y la danza hipnótica de las llamas de los petardos y las bengalas. Vestidos con trajes diabólicos adornados con cuernos y blandiendo horcas, los artistas cautivan a los espectadores con sus atrevidas acrobacias y rutinas coreografiadas.
Los espectadores se ven atraídos por el espectáculo y a menudo se unen a la procesión, aunque con cautela, mientras navegan por el laberinto de exhibiciones de fuego. El aire crepita con emoción y el olor a pólvora, creando una atmósfera cargada de miedo y euforia.
