Gandia has officially launched the Christmas season with a spectacular opening night that filled the city with festive lights, music, and holiday spirit. The celebrations began in Plaza del Prado, one of Gandia’s most popular social hubs, where hundreds of residents and visitors gathered to witness the long-awaited switch-on of the Christmas tree and decorative lights. The honour of lighting up the square fell to Mayor José Manuel Prieto, who inaugurated the festivities to enthusiastic applause from families, neighbours, and tourists ready to welcome Christmas in Gandia.

As soon as Mayor José Manuel Prieto pressed the button, the Christmas tree illuminated the plaza with vibrant colours, instantly transforming Plaza del Prado into the heart of Gandia’s Christmas celebrations. Festive arches, hanging lights, and illuminated figures added even more charm to the square. The surrounding bars, cafés, and restaurants—always lively in the evenings—quickly filled with people enjoying the atmosphere, sharing drinks and tapas as the celebrations unfolded.

Following the tree lighting, many visitors walked towards Plaza Major, where the Gandia Town Hall’s Christmas illumination was already shining beautifully. Although there was no second switch-on ceremony, the Ayuntamiento’s glowing façade became an immediate highlight. The elegant lighting display provided a stunning backdrop for photos, festive strolls, and an evening out in the bars and terraces around Plaza Major, which were buzzing with activity as locals enjoyed the seasonal ambience.

Across Gandia, the Christmas season is now in full swing. Visitors can enjoy Christmas markets, artisan stalls, nativity scenes, festive workshops for children, concerts, and illuminated routes throughout the city. Local businesses have embraced the spirit of Navidad, decorating their storefronts and helping create a warm, welcoming Christmas atmosphere that attracts both residents and tourists.

Looking ahead, one of Gandia’s most anticipated events is the Cabalgata de Reyes, the spectacular Three Kings Parade held on 5th January. This cherished tradition draws thousands to the streets every year. Colourful floats, dancers, performers, and the arrival of Melchor, Gaspar, and Baltasar bring unforgettable excitement, especially for children eagerly waiting to catch sweets and gifts. Gandia inauguró oficialmente la temporada navideña con una espectacular noche de apertura que llenó la ciudad de luces festivas, música y espíritu navideño. Las celebraciones comenzaron en la Plaza del Prado, uno de los centros sociales más populares de Gandia, donde cientos de residentes y visitantes se congregaron para presenciar el esperado encendido del árbol de Navidad y las luces decorativas. El honor de iluminar la plaza recayó en el alcalde José Manuel Prieto, quien inauguró las fiestas entre entusiastas aplausos de familias, vecinos y turistas, listos para dar la bienvenida a la Navidad en Gandia.

En cuanto el alcalde José Manuel Prieto pulsó el botón, el árbol de Navidad iluminó la plaza con vibrantes colores, transformando instantáneamente la Plaza del Prado en el corazón de las celebraciones navideñas de Gandia. Arcos festivos, luces colgantes y figuras iluminadas añadieron aún más encanto a la plaza. Los bares, cafeterías y restaurantes de los alrededores, siempre animados por las noches, se llenaron rápidamente de gente disfrutando del ambiente, compartiendo bebidas y tapas mientras se desarrollaban las celebraciones.

Tras la iluminación del árbol, muchos visitantes caminaron hacia la Plaza Mayor, donde la iluminación navideña del Ayuntamiento de Gandía ya brillaba con esplendor. Aunque no hubo un segundo encendido, la fachada del Ayuntamiento se convirtió inmediatamente en el centro de atención.
