Shops in Javea
Opening times of shops tend to follow the traditional times based around the
siesta, with many closing around 13.30 to 14.00, and opening up again
between 16.00 and 17.00. The main reason behind this is to avoid working in
the hottest part of the day in the summer months.
Many non-food shops do not open until 9.30 or 10 a.m. and some shops do not
open on a Saturday afternoon, or if they are open on Saturdays, like a
Hairdressers for example, they usually do not open on a Monday. Nearly all
shops and local smaller supermarkets are closed on a Sunday. On national and
local bank holidays, it is best to check beforehand, some supermarkets open
during the morning, especially if the bank holiday falls on a Saturday or
Monday.
