Miniature Trains Return to Gandía in Spectacular Show
The annual Model Railway Exhibition returned to Gandía / Gandia, Valencia, Spain 🇪🇸, once again attracting visitors of all ages to one of the most unique free events in the region. Held at the Espai Baladre near Playa de Gandía, the exhibition transformed the venue into a detailed miniature railway world filled with moving trains, realistic scenery, tunnels, stations, bridges, and tiny towns.
Organised by the Club Ibérico de Módulos H0 (CIMH0), the event brought together railway modelling enthusiasts from across Spain to showcase their impressive modular H0 scale layouts. H0 scale, one of the most popular scales in railway modelling, allows hobbyists to create incredibly realistic miniature landscapes and fully functioning train systems with astonishing levels of detail.

Visitors to the Gandía exhibition were able to watch long passenger and freight trains travel through carefully constructed scenes inspired by real railway environments. From countryside stations to industrial yards and mountain routes, every section of the display featured fine detail and moving elements that captured the attention of both children and adults.
One of the reasons the event continues to grow in popularity is the level of craftsmanship involved. The layouts displayed by CIMH0 members are not simply toy train sets, but highly detailed recreations of real railway operations. Many enthusiasts spend years building and improving their modules, adding lighting, weathering effects, signals, vehicles, and authentic railway infrastructure to create lifelike scenes.
The exhibition also highlights the continuing interest in railway history and modelling culture in Spain. Events such as this help introduce younger generations to the hobby while also celebrating Spain’s rich railway heritage, including historic regional rail connections such as the old Alcoy to Gandía railway line.
As well as being a popular attraction for train enthusiasts, the exhibition provides another reason for visitors to explore Gandía outside the busy summer beach season. Over recent decades, Gandía has grown from its origins as a traditional fishing town into one of the best-known coastal destinations on the Costa del Azahar, attracting both Spanish and international visitors throughout the year.
Located between Valencia and Alicante, Gandía is well known for its wide sandy beaches, lively paseo marítimo, marina, historic centre, and family-friendly atmosphere. Events such as the Model Railway Exhibition add to the city’s growing cultural and tourism appeal, offering activities that go beyond the beach and summer nightlife.
The free entry to the exhibition also makes it especially attractive for families looking for affordable activities in the Valencia region. The combination of moving trains, interactive displays, and realistic miniature worlds creates an experience that appeals to visitors of all ages, whether they are dedicated railway fans or simply curious to see the craftsmanship involved.
With another successful edition completed, the Gandía Model Railway Exhibition continues to establish itself as one of the most interesting specialist hobby events on the Costa Blanca and Valencia region calendar. For anyone visiting Gandía during the event dates, it is well worth adding to the itinerary.
