- Miramar village, located about 2 km inland.

A Village with Arab Origins
Although today Miramar is best known for its beach, its history stretches back much further.
Archaeological remains, including Roman pottery and coins, have been discovered in the area, showing that the land was occupied long before the modern village developed. The present settlement has Arab origins, later becoming part of the Kingdom of Valencia following the Christian conquest by King Jaume I.
Like many villages in La Safor, Miramar was heavily affected by the expulsion of the Moriscos in 1609, before being repopulated during the 17th century. For many years it also formed part of the Duchy of Gandia, closely linked to the powerful Borja (Borgia) family.
Miramar Beach
The jewel of Miramar is undoubtedly its beach.
Stretching for around 1.2 kilometres, Platja de Miramar is a wide beach of fine golden sand with clean, clear Mediterranean waters.
