Every year, Gandia bids farewell to its Fira i Festes with one of its most moving and unforgettable traditions — the Procession in Honor of Sant Francesc de Borja, the city’s patron saint. In 2025, this special event will take place on October 6th at 20:00, marking the grand finale of four vibrant days filled with music, culture, and celebration.

Born in Gandia in 1510, Sant Francesc de Borja was the city’s Duke before dedicating his life to faith as a Jesuit. Later canonized in 1671, he remains a timeless symbol of devotion and humility for the people of Gandia.

The evening begins with a solemn Mass at the Insigne Colegiata, followed by the majestic procession through Gandia’s historic center. The image of the saint is carried through the streets, accompanied by music bands, clergy, and participants in traditional Valencian dress. Along the way, the procession visits iconic landmarks such as the Palau Ducal dels Borja, the Escola Pia, and the Real Monasterio de Santa Clara, where prayers and traditional dances pay tribute to the city’s spiritual heritage.

As night falls, the celebration reaches its peak with a spectacular fireworks display in the Plaça Major — a dazzling show of light and color that fills the sky and the hearts of everyone watching.

Cada año, Gandía despide su Fira i Festes con una de sus tradiciones más emotivas e inolvidables: la Procesión en Honor a Sant Francesc de Borja, patrón de la ciudad. En 2025, este evento especial tendrá lugar el 6 de octubre a las 20:00 h, marcando el final de cuatro vibrantes días llenos de música, cultura y celebración.

Nacido en Gandía en 1510, Sant Francesc de Borja fue duque de la ciudad antes de dedicar su vida a la fe como jesuita. Canonizado en 1671, sigue siendo un símbolo atemporal de devoción y humildad para los gandianos.

La velada comienza con una misa solemne en la Insigne Colegiata, seguida de una majestuosa procesión por el centro histórico de Gandía. La imagen del santo recorre las calles, acompañada por bandas de música, clérigos y participantes ataviados con trajes tradicionales valencianos. A lo largo del recorrido, la procesión visita lugares emblemáticos como el Palacio Ducal dels Borja, la Escuela Pía y el Real Monasterio de Santa Clara, donde rezos y bailes tradicionales rinden homenaje al patrimonio espiritual de la ciudad.

Al caer la noche, la celebración alcanza su punto álgido con un espectacular espectáculo de fuegos artificiales en la Plaza Mayor: un deslumbrante espectáculo de luz y color que llena el cielo y los corazones de todos los presentes.
