Golden Sunset Over Playa de Gandia by Drone
There are few better places to enjoy a Mediterranean sunset than Playa de Gandia, where wide sandy beaches, a bustling marina and a long palm-lined promenade come together to create one of the most attractive coastal destinations in the Valencian Community. As the day’s heat begins to fade, the coastline takes on a completely different character, with warm golden light reflecting across the sea and dramatic skies providing an ever-changing backdrop.
My latest video captures this beautiful time of day using a combination of cinematic drone footage and handheld shots, offering both sweeping aerial views and ground-level perspectives of Playa de Gandia, the Port de Gandia marina and the surrounding coastline.

Golden hour is always a favourite time for photographers and drone pilots. The lower angle of the sun softens the light, reduces harsh shadows and fills the landscape with warm orange and golden tones. On this particular evening, scattered clouds added extra drama to the sky, creating beautiful reflections across the Mediterranean while the skyline of Playa de Gandia gradually became silhouetted against the setting sun.
The aerial footage showcases the full length of Gandia Beach, revealing just how expansive the coastline is. Stretching for several kilometres, Playa de Gandia is famous for its fine golden sand, Blue Flag status and excellent facilities. Even during the evening, the promenade remains busy with walkers, cyclists and families enjoying the cooler temperatures after a warm day.
The video also explores the Port de Gandia and the Grau de Gandia, an area that perfectly blends the town’s traditional fishing heritage with its modern marina. Fishing boats continue to operate alongside leisure yachts, while restaurants and cafés overlooking the harbour become increasingly lively as sunset approaches.
One of the highlights of the video is the visit to the breakwater at Port de Gandia. This long stone pier extends out into the Mediterranean and offers some of the best panoramic views of the coastline. From here, visitors can watch fishing boats returning to harbour, feel the sea breeze and enjoy uninterrupted views back towards Playa de Gandia as the sky changes colour. It is a favourite spot for photographers, anglers and anyone looking to experience a peaceful Mediterranean evening.
From above, the contrast between the marina, the beach and the surrounding mountains becomes even more striking. The palm-lined avenues, modern apartment buildings and expansive coastline illustrate why Playa de Gandia has become one of Spain’s most popular seaside resorts. Yet despite its popularity, the area still manages to offer moments of calm, particularly during the final hour before sunset.
The combination of drone and handheld footage allows viewers to experience Gandia from two very different perspectives. While the aerial shots reveal the scale and beauty of the coastline, the ground-level scenes place you right beside the sea, capturing the atmosphere of the promenade, marina and breakwater as the evening unfolds.
Whether you’re planning a holiday on Spain’s Mediterranean coast, looking for travel inspiration or simply enjoy relaxing scenic videos, Playa de Gandia offers an unforgettable setting. Its combination of wide beaches, a lively marina, traditional fishing heritage and spectacular sunsets makes it one of the standout destinations in the Valencian Community.
