Oliva Castle from Above | Castell de Santa Anna Drone Views
This video showcases Castell de Santa Anna in Oliva, Spain, captured from the air with sweeping drone views that reveal both the historic castle ruins and the surrounding landscape of the La Safor region. Perched on a hill above the town, the castle is one of Oliva’s most recognisable landmarks and offers one of the best viewpoints across the area.
From above, the strategic position of Castell de Santa Anna becomes immediately clear. The ruins sit on a hill overlooking the historic centre of Oliva, providing wide panoramic views across the town, surrounding farmland, and the Mediterranean coastline just a few kilometres away.
The drone footage highlights the layout of the remaining stone walls and foundations, which hint at the structure that once stood here. Although much of the castle has been lost over the centuries, the elevated position continues to make it an important historical and visual landmark for the town.

The castle was built during the 16th century, at a time when many coastal communities in the Kingdom of Valencia strengthened their defences against attacks by Barbary pirates operating in the western Mediterranean. Fortifications such as Castell de Santa Anna formed part of a network of watchpoints designed to monitor the coast and provide early warning of approaching ships.
From its hilltop location, guards would have been able to observe the coastline, the surrounding countryside, and routes leading inland. This vantage point made it an ideal defensive site, and today the same position provides spectacular views for visitors and photographers.
The aerial perspective also reveals the relationship between the castle and the town below. The tightly packed streets of Oliva’s old town spread out beneath the hill, while beyond the town the landscape opens into the fertile agricultural plains that have long supported the local economy through citrus farming and other crops.
Looking further toward the horizon, the Mediterranean Sea becomes visible, showing just how close Oliva lies to the coast. On clear days the contrast between the green agricultural land, the town’s historic buildings, and the deep blue sea creates a striking view from above.
The surrounding La Safor region is known for its mix of historic towns, coastal beaches, and mountainous landscapes. From the air, these different elements can be seen together, offering a broader perspective on the geography that shapes this part of the Valencian Community.
Drone footage provides a unique way to experience sites like Castell de Santa Anna, revealing angles and views that are difficult to appreciate from ground level. The slow aerial passes around the ruins allow viewers to see the castle’s structure, the hillside terrain, and the panoramic setting all at once.
Whether you are interested in Valencian history, historic castles, aerial cinematography, or exploring lesser-known destinations in Spain, this video offers a peaceful and detailed look at one of Oliva’s most historic locations from the sky.
