On Sunday, July 27th, 2025, Playa de Gandia burst into life with the colorful Pasacalle of the Banda del Tío de la Porra, the closing highlight of the “Festa a la Mar” celebrations. Beginning at 8:30 PM from Castell i Lleó Street and marching along the bustling Passeig Marítim Neptú, the parade delighted both locals and tourists with its festive rhythm and coastal charm.

The Tío de la Porra is a beloved figure in Gandia’s folklore — a humorous character dressed in a mock-military uniform, black glasses, a fake nose, and a baton. Traditionally, he appears during local festivals to joyfully “interrupt” schools and public life, announcing the arrival of the town’s festivities with the beating of a drum. He represents celebration, satire, and community spirit, and is especially adored by children.

During the parade, his iconic band filled the evening air with vibrant drumming and laughter. Families and visitors of all ages danced and cheered as the band passed by. This cheerful event didn’t just close a festival — it connected generations through folklore, music, and local pride, turning the beachfront into a stage for tradition, fun, and cultural identity.

El domingo 27 de julio de 2025, la Playa de Gandia se llenó de color y alegría con el Pasacalle de la Banda del Tío de la Porra, el acto de clausura de las celebraciones de la “Festa a la Mar”. A partir de las 20:30 h, el desfile partió desde la calle Castell i Lleó y recorrió el animado Passeig Marítim Neptú, contagiando a residentes y turistas con su espíritu festivo junto al mar.

El Tío de la Porra es una figura entrañable del folclore de Gandia: un personaje caricaturesco que viste un uniforme militar, lleva gafas negras, nariz postiza y un bastón. Su papel tradicional es anunciar el inicio de las fiestas locales, interrumpiendo con alegría la rutina escolar mientras hace sonar su tambor. Es un símbolo de celebración, humor y unión comunitaria, especialmente querido por los niños.

Durante el pasacalle, su banda llenó el ambiente con el ritmo vibrante de los tambores, despertando sonrisas y aplausos a su paso. Familias y visitantes de todas las edades se unieron al desfile, en una velada que celebró no solo una tradición, sino también el orgullo cultural de Gandia y su conexión con el mar.
